INTENSIVE FILIAL THERAPY TRAINING

Intensive Filial Therapy 4-day Training Program at Grove Centre in Burnaby, September 19-22, 2019

For mental health professionals seeking to develop competency in Filial Therapy, an integrated family therapy and play therapy intervention to resolve presenting problems and strengthen family relationships by engaging caregivers as partners in their child’s therapeutic process.

Filial Therapy is a highly effective, relatively short-term, evidence-based approach that is cost-effective in facilitating positive and long-lasting child and family change. Therapists learn how to train and supervise parents as they conduct special child-centered play sessions with their own children (ages 3-12+). The Intensive Filial Therapy Training Program developed by Risë VanFleet features the work of Filial Therapy originators, Drs. Bernard and Louise Guerney.

The training is limited to 6 participants to facilitate extensive experiential skill practice with individualized observation, coaching and feedback from instructor. It is designed to provide participants with all the skills they need to confidently and competently conduct Filial Therapy with their clients following the training.
